Here’s the best way to know you are making the right decision for you
Decisions are hard. And when you are planning a big life event you have to make a lot of them. How do you know if you are making the right decisions? When I was planning my wedding I decided to go with an extremely expensive venue that didn’t provide anything but the venue itself for the entire weekend. I fell in love with the place and decided to take a chance. My younger brother arrived from out of town the night of the rehearsal dinner and before I even got a chance to see him he texted me “Wow Linds this place is gorgeous”. I will remember that text forever. I immediately knew all my hard work was going to pay off. My decision had been validated.
Trust yourself
Trusting yourself is the single most important thing. It is the key to every decision. If you don’t trust yourself it won’t work. You might not be 100% sure or there might be a few unknown factors but if we are being honest that’s probably always going to be the case. If you feel it in your gut, it will all fall into place after that. That’s the voice of our intuition.
If you are having trouble listening to your gut, close your eyes, block everything else out, and focus on your decision. What’s the first thing that pops into your mind? What do you see? That’s your gut. That’s what you go with. Don’t over complicate it. Trust yourself.
Once you trust yourself you can be confident
With trust comes confidence. All the what ifs, should haves, unwanted suggestions, can all just melt away. You are following your intuition and nothing is more valuable. Things might change along the way and it’s okay to iterate on your decision. You can be flexible but at the core your decision is sound. You can follow your vision with the utmost confidence.
Once you are confident you know you made the right decision
Knowing you made the right decision allows you to make a plan to get started. You can stop spinning your wheels and reign yourself in so that you can start enjoying the process. No more second guessing. You can be proud and excited for what's to come. This is your big life event and it should be the way you want it.
I stuck to my vision for my wedding even when others thought it was silly or too adventurous. I had a goal in mind and I wanted that to be felt in every decision I made. I stuck to my gut and it paid off. Years later people still tell me it was the best wedding they had ever been to.
